Hall Of Fame 3 Rules

1. About the competition

1. Hall Of Fame 3 or HOF3 for short, as from now named "competition", is a regular simulated racing challenge, that uses the Grand Prix 3 racing simulator, released by Microprose/Hasbro in july 2000. The competition is an offline one - drivers save and submit their best hotlaps, which are classified according the current rules. The series will use more modern "Formula-1" simulators in the future.

3. All competitors of HOF3 should obey current rules. Competitors, who break the rules will get punished according the rules.

2. Sections

1. The competitions is separated into two sections : "Analogue" and "Digital".

2. "Analogue" section is for drivers, who uses analog devices for controlling.

3. "Digital" section is for drivers, who uses digital devices for controlling. For steering, accelerating, braking and clutching, digital devices should be used.



3.Competitors

1. The competition is opened for any person and doesn`t have any international or other borders.

2. To take part in HOF3 competitors should:

3. The only competitors of HOF3 are drivers.

4. Each result at each track of a driver is awarded by points according the scoring system, which are counted towards the standings.



4. Grand Prix 3 settings requirements

1. The series is run with the original version of Grand Prix 3, changed with patch 1.13, released by Hasbro/MicroProse in October 2000.

2. It's not allowed to change the following values:

3. It is mandatory to use GpXLap version 1.01, 1.03, 1.20, 1.21, 1.22, 1.30 or 1.31 of GpXPatch. 

4. It is not allowed to change tracks, except graphical changes. Checksum of each track should be original.

5. Slow-motion driving is forbidden. Average value of Processor Occupancy, shown by pressing key "O", has to be less or equal 95%.

6. It is allowed in the "Digital" section to use only digital devices, that work like "yes/no" or "1/0". HofXLap should report the following values :

  There are no limitations for values of Max Lock and Reduce with Car Speed.

7. It is mandatory to use F8 Steering Help and 100% Steering Help in the "Digital" section.

8. It is not allowed to use utilities, that increases frame-rate over 25.6 frames per second.

9. It is not allowed to change values, that can be changed in the future by new editors: influence on physic of the game and lowering the time of the lap in any way, or preventing normal checking of results.



5. Racing Hotlap

1. The driver is allowed to spend as much time for individual training as he/she needs.

2. The driver is free to use any setup.

3. Each driver has to write in the game his registration name. Hotlaps with unregistrated names won`t be accepted.

4. The average value of Processor Occupancy in hotlap should be less or equal 95%.

5. It is not allowed to cut distance by cutting corners. The driver should have 2 wheels on the track or vertically over the track at alltime. The track is asphalt, white lines and kerbs. This rule is applyed only to inside corners, when distance was cut, and for chicanes. Besides it is not allowed to touch walls for increased braking. Please refrain from sending in laps that you're not sure about yourself.

6. It is allowed to use any Driving Aids, except F4 Indestructable mode. It is forbidden not to use F8 Steering Help in "Digital" section.

7. Hotlap should be saved with Performance Data.



6. Scoring System

1. Each competitor is awarded by points for hotlaps according position and shown laptime.

2. The following formula is used for scoring:

70-(DrivTime-WrTime) * (70/(WrTime*1.05-WrTime )) + 600 / (DrivPlace+19)

Formula for scoring driver`s time over 105% from best time of track:
600 / (DrivPlace+19)

3. Using any number of Driving Aids gets 2 points penalty.

4. Average number of points, awarded to a driver at each track, are counted towards the Average Points Ranking. If a driver has less than 8 results, there is a penalty of 3% of Average Points for each needed result, for example 3 results means 15% penalty, 5 results means 9% penalty.

5. All points, awarded to a driver at each track, are counted towards Total Points Ranking.

6. Average number of places, taken by a driver at each track, are counted towards Average Place Ranking. If a driver has less than 5 results, he is not ranked in Average Place Ranking.



7. HotLap Checking

1. All competitors laps are automatically checked online by HofXLap during submitting. HofXLap checks most of the settings, required by the competition:

2. Director or filechecker of a section will visually check all hotlaps and will take a decision whether the hotlap is legal for the current rules. Reason of rejecting the lap is published on the site.



8. Punishments for breaking rules

1. For breaking rules competitors of HOF3 are punished in the following ways:

2. Usual punishment for breaking the rules is rejecting or removing the hotlap from the database with reason of doing so.

3. In case of repeated or dirty breaking (like using editors to change physics of the game) Directors can ban a driver from the competition.



9. Rules Changes

1. Rules can be changed by the Director in any way for the benefit of HOF3.

2. Changes of Rules are becoming legal 3 days later after it`s officially published. The Director will publish any changes in the rules on the news site.
